Visit Nyali Beach

IsabellaA lot is talked about the beach boys and you will on your first day be hassled to buy wood carvings or go for a Safari. But be firm and say no if not interested. I had no trouble and can highly recommend the safaris which are the same from the tour companies but a lot cheaper and better organised. I did arrange one tour with first choice which was good but it was with mixed nationality who were nice but it did mean hearing the guide say everything twice. The beach boys will take all English and no more than 6 to make sure you get a window view on the Safari. So go down and speak to Mustafa or David and they will look after you they work for North Coast Tours and Safari's a well known and reputable local Company. Tell them Chris sent you and you may get a free trip to Mombasa. I made many friends on the beach which is a must place to visit just watch the sun as you could end up being sun burnt as you watch the wonderful marine life and birds. Also say jambo to Isabella who will give you a soothing massage in a beach hut which will make your tan last longer.  If you do not fancy a walk chat with Isabella and take a walk along the beach she will tell you about the area for her time give her a small tip. Good to have someone on the beach as a friend as you can say this that you are friends of Isabella or David and others will stay away. Carvings are okay if you are into those type of things again ask for Richard you may even get a chance to buy a Kenyan lucky charm. Camel rides are okay but barter with them as they may take you for a ride if you do not agree a price. The tide does vary so make sure you the beachcheck on tide times. When the tide goes out you can look in the rock pools and see an array of marine life. Make sure you have something on your feet like jellies as there are lots of sea urchins around. You can walk for a good mile either side of the Hotel but only walk as far as you can see as you will get more hassle if you walk around the corner. Its also good getting to know one of the beach boys and the area. Don't forget that if at Voyager to take a glass bottom trip to the Coral Reef or ask Mustafa to organise one for you.

Enjoy the beach watch out for the sun, enjoy the sunrises and be firm and polite to the beach boys and make sure you get your safari from Mustafa or David and massage from Isabella. They want your business as it their only way to make a the beachliving and they understand if they cause you lots of problems then the Tourist Police will come down hard on them. Tell the tourist Police if you get problems you will see them often along the beach. The beach boys are not allowed into the Hotel so no hard sell in the resort. If you go right you will see a military base which is best not to go to and take photos. Enjoy the beach and enjoy the many jambo's you will hear as you walk.
Also if you go with the animation team you will not get and hard sale on the beach. By the end of the holiday I was the one hassling the beach boys which they found amusing.

the beachOne of my delights was getting up early to see the sun rise along the beach. Seeing the boats and the birds fishing on the Indian Ocean is a must. Again check on the tide times as the tide does come right in. Thanks to Diana, Isabella and Hamsole for their company. Early morning photo gallery
