The Voyager hotel is set in 24 acres of landscaped gardens and is based on the theme of a ship. Each day the ‘ship docks' at a different location in the world. This then becomes the theme for the day regarding food, costumes and entertainment. The staff are all happy, smiling, eager to please and all look very smart in their sea-faring uniforms.
If you wanted a romantic location on the Indian Ocean then the Voyager Beachresort is a must. The Voyager is set up to give you a wedding to remember. If you contact Margaret she can give you further details but
basically Margaret can arrange everything for the perfect romantic tropical wedding. From flowers to dancers, from photographers to registrar. Also contact Margaret if you have an anniversary, birthday or want to renew your vows. The Voyager can make your day even more special. Nothing is too much bother.
The food on offer is more than you can ever try – is always fresh- well presented and a huge range on offer. The hotel has 3 pools: a fun pool for families; a sports pool with slide into it and games on offer each day, and a quiet pool overlooking the Ocean which is for adults only
The Voyager has an excellent animation team who provide entertainment for all ages. The children will be well looked after in the adventures club while the adults enjoy a relaxing time by one of the three pools. Activities are provided for the adults a must is a beach walk with Alice and Evelyn. For the more energetic aqua aerobics, beach football or how about time in the afternoon learning Swahili. The voyager also provide a variety of water sports and the non powered are free to the all inclusive guests. A worth while trip is on the glass bottom boat where you are taken out to see the fantastic fish and colourful starfish. You can snorkel or just sit back and enjoy the underwater show though the boats glass bottom. One of the crew will even bring you a selection of starfish to hold and photograph before putting back in the coral reef. You then get a chance to get out of the boat to walk along the dead coral reef and see the variety of marine life. An excellent way to spent a couple of hours. Check with the water sports team for times as it depends on the tide.
Entertainment continues into the evening with shows from the Animation team like
the Lion King or music and dancing from the Hot Coconut Band. Also you will have a chance to see the acrobats who will amaze you with their skills in fact they bendover backwards to entertain. So plenty of things to do but you have plenty of places like the quite pool to relax and escape the fun and games. If you do take part you get beads which you can exchange for a certificate, wood carving or t-shirt. I forgot to get mine!
Make sure you see the animation team for advice on trips and say Jambo to them from me.
Travel Advice
You do not need to take plugs – the electrical sockets are the same as in England.
You will also be pleased to know that the water system is fine to be able to flush!
Do not drink the tap water though. Flasks are put in your room each day for tooth brushing.
THE SUN IS VERY HOT – many people found they had a problem with burning. It is very easy to get burnt particularly in the first few days. Cover up with creams; put T-shirts etc. over you when on boat trips or on the beach; do not spend hours in the full sun – many regretted it.
Some people take over a case of old clothes, donate them, and then have the luggage allowance for their purchases.
It is very hot both day and night – do not pack more than you need. Fussy clothes are not really needed; suits and ties never worn; smart casual seemed to be the rule for the evenings – skirts; longer trousers; T-shirts.
Most of the time you will be in swimming gear or very light clothes.
If you have old T-shirts; baby / children's clothes; socks; shoes; trainers; etc. that you do not wish to take home, then all of these can be donated to the locals.
